Description
This is a historic 15th century château situated in the heart of the Charente set in its own grounds of 16 Hectares. The whole property has been totally restored to a high standard and includes gas central heating, state of the art security system and top notch fixtures and fittings throughout.

Outbuildings
At the back of the castle is a private formal garden with a swimming pool. There are two separate blocks overlooking the garden which include a self-contained guest annex and a fully equipped sauna.

Across the graveled drive at the front of the chateau is the gite block. This is a self-contained block which includes five separate units. Four of these have a lounge/kitchen area on the ground floor as well as a quirky mezzanine level bedroom and adjoining bathroom. The fifth gite has two bedrooms. The gites are modern inside, yet on the outside blend effortlessly into the historic setting of the castle.

Finally, across the courtyard is a large barn of about 150m² which is currently used as storage and a huge attached hangar of about 300m² that makes for perfect guest parking. Even this block is in immaculate condition.
General
The main block comprises a rectangular tower on three levels and an adjoining round tower on four levels and includes at least six bedrooms, some of which have en-suite bathrooms. They are all large, open spaces. The round rooms in the round tower are reached via a circular, stone, stairwell that winds its way up to the turreted roof. The top room has a magnificent domed roof. This tower could be used as separate guest accommodation. The main family accommodation is in the rectangular block and comprises huge reception rooms, dining room and fitted kitchen area as well as a number of other multi-use spaces. Throughout the main castle, the restorers have retained original features such as stone brickwork, wood floors and ceiling beams and truly magnificent open fireplaces in stone.
Comment
Let me take you on a tour. You approach the chateau down a small, wooded road and turn into the chateau’s private drive.

Passing by the octagonal stone pigeon house on your left, you approach the main, electronically operated gates and drive into the graveled courtyard. On your left is the main castle, and facing you is the restored gite complex, whilst on your right is a magnificent barn and attached hangers used for guest parking.

This is a rare opportunity to purchase a slice of French history that has been sympathetically renovated throughout and which would make a fabulous business enterprise right in the heart of France.
